Nic Longley
About
Nic Longley is a dedicated and committed Golf Professional based in Calgary, Alberta where he currently holds an Assistant Golf Professional position at the Silver Springs Golf and Country Club.
Nic was born and raised in Calgary and continues to live in the city. Like most young kids from Calgary, Nic mostly played hockey, starting at a young age, and a little bit of football and soccer. Nic had always loved being outside playing sports in his backyard or the park just outside of his house with his younger brother and sister. However, at age 15, Nic decided to take up golf with his mother purchasing his first Junior Membership at Valley Ridge GC in the Spring of 2016. With encouragement from his Uncles and Grandfather, who served time on the Board of Directors as Club President for the Carstairs GC, from the second he hit his first 7 iron on the Driving Range at Valley Ridge, he had realized he fell in love with the game. Every year, Nic continued to improve his game and focused on challenging himself to become the best golfer he could be.
After 2 seasons as a Junior, developing a strong passion for the game, Nic came to the realization it was time to get a job, and then he applied to work in the Outside Services department at Valley Ridge. From that point on, Nic learned key values such as respect, kindness, and professionalism. After 2 seasons Nic was promoted to Manager, and realized that this was an industry he would want to pursue a career in. With support and encouragement from the Professional Staff at Valley Ridge, he signed up to take his Playing Ability Test. After passing the PAT at Lacombe Golf & Country Club in August of 2020, Nic is looking forward to future seasons ahead to continue to meet high quality individuals within the Professional Golfers Association of Alberta, as well as, with the determination to continue to grow and develop into the best Golf Professional he can be at the Silver Springs Golf & Country Club.
Nic's journey is rooted with his strong academic background from the University of Calgary where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Management in December of 2023. Nic is committed to facility excellence, and industry growth while focusing on financial literacy.
